Dr. Dre, the hip hop icon and former member of rap group NWA, deleted an Instagram post in which he boasted that his daughter got into the University of Southern California – a school to which he has donated millions.
The 54-year-old, whose real name is Andre Young, shared his daughter Truly’s happy news on Saturday. “My daughter got accepted into USC all on her own. No jail time!!!.”
Dre was referring to the college admissions scandal that saw a number of wealthy parents charged with paying bribes to get their children admitted.
His Instagram post sparked comments from people who noted that the music mogul and producer Jimmy Iovine donated $70 million U.S. in 2013 to USC to establish the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation.
Dre, who became the richest person in hip hop when Apple bought his Beats for $3 billion U.S. in 2014, deleted the post late Sunday.
