Eminem is set to release his 12th studio album later this year, according to longtime producer/collaborator Dr. Dre.
Dre appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night (March 19) to discuss getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, along with his legacy, beginning with his time in N.W.A. to discovering talent like Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and of course, Eminem.
“Let me tell you something, let me explain something to you right now: Eminem is working on his own album which is coming out this year,” Dre told Kimmel and the studio audience. “And I actually talked to him and he said it okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show. So he has an album coming out, I’ve got songs on it and it’s fire. I’m actually gonna hear the entire album for the first time for tomorrow.”
Once again, Dre is expected to serve as executive producer for Eminem's album, as he has on all 11 of his previous releases. However, he didn't have any sort of timeline to reveal, nor did he have any additional details to share.
“[Eminem] holds his music close to his chest so I haven’t heard everything," he admitted. "I haven’t even heard everything complete that I’ve done, but I’m gonna hear it, and he’s putting out an album this year.”
The Detroit rapper's last album was Music to Be Murdered By, which he dropped without notice in January 2020.
Also joining Kimmel for the show were Dre's associates Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent, who looked back on their time working with the producer. Watch the clip below.
