Dr. Dre is a producer, rapper, music mogul, headphone designer, and if he has any control over it, hopefully a competitor in the sport of archery for the U.S. Olympic team come 2028.
The hip-hop legend says he has a serious love for the sport of archery, which he first discovered back when he was a student.
“I’m dead-ass serious,” he admitted to ET's Nischelle Turner. “I actually started playing around with archery in junior high."
The 59-year-old appeared with his cousin and long-time collaborator Snoop Dogg at the Closing Ceremony for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Sunday (August 11), where they performed "The Next Episode." The performance was shot as a pre-recorded segment the day before on location in Los Angeles, CA, where the 2028 Summer Games are set to be held.
Dre says archery has become another passion for him, and he is currently preparing to see if he can give it a go.
“I stopped for a while, and my son bought me a setup — I don’t know if was for my birthday or Father’s Day or something like that," he said. "So I have it set up in my backyard. I heard that qualifying for the Olympics is 77 feet, and I practice at 90. Wouldn’t that be interesting to go, especially with it being here in L.A., and win the gold medal?"
