Drake was booed off stage while making a surprise appearance at this past weekend’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in Los Angeles.
“I’m here for you tonight,” Drake said after performing nine tracks for the unwelcoming crowd. “If you want to keep going tonight, I will keep going tonight.”
A chorus of “No!” as well as booing can be heard.
“Well look, it’s been love. I love y’all,” Drake said. “I go by the name of Drake. Thank you for having me.”
It’s not clear why fans were upset about Drake’s appearance at Tyler, the Creator’s annual festival. Rumours swirled that Frank Ocean was going to be the surprise guest.
Tyler, the Creator went on a Twitter rant about the crowd's behaviour. "I THOUGHT BRINGING ONE OF THE BIGGEST ARTIST ON THE F**KING PLANET TO A MUSIC FESTIVAL WAS FIRE! BUT FLIPSIDE, A LIL TONE DEAF KNOWING THE SPECIFIC CROWD IT DREW. SOME CREATED A NARRATIVE IN THEIR HEAD AND ACTED OUT LIKE A**HOLES WHEN IT DIDNT COME TRUE AND I DONT F**K WITH THAT," he shared.
"THAT S**T WAS LIKE MOB MENTALITY AND CANCEL CULTURE IN REAL LIFE AND I THINK THAT SHIT IS F**KING TRASH."
The rapper added: "THANK YOU DRAKE! ( IM F**KING PISSED HOTLINE BLING WAS NEXT...)"
According to social media posts, the crowd also booed surprise guests A$AP Rocky and Lil Uzi Vert.
The Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival line-up included Brockhampton, H.E.R. and Canada’s Daniel Caesar.
