Two Canadian artists were singled out this week in tweets by the U.S. music industry association RIAA for achievements in the last decade.
Drake is recognized as one of the three biggest artists of 2010-2019 and Carly Rae Jepsen is one of only five female artists to have songs certified diamond in the same period.
Drake holds three spots on the Top 10 Certified Albums list compiled by the RIAA. His 2016 collection Views is No. 5 and 2011’s Take Care is No. 8 thanks to certifications of 6 million units each. Scorpion, released in 2018, is No. 10 with 5 million.
Taylor Swift also has three spots on the list, which has albums from Adele at No. 1 and No. 2.
Decade's Top Ten Awarded Albums + ! Only @Adele has achieved a album this decade and she has not 1, but 2! @Taylorswift13 & @Drake each have 3 top 10 albums of the decade! @columbiarecords, @republicrecords, @youngmoneysite, @BigMachine #RIAATopCertified pic.twitter.com/2SR5D6klAy

Jepsen’s 2011 smash “Call Me Maybe” earned diamond status, representing sales of at least 10 million copies, to put the B.C. native in the company of Katy Perry (“Roar”), Lady Gaga (“Poker Face”), Lorde (“Royals”) and Megan Trainor (“All About That Bass”).
The RIAA uses data from sales and streaming to determine its certifications.
