Drake is going into 2020 feeling at peace with himself.
“I'm at a great place in my life,” he said during a lengthy conversation on the Rap Radar podcast. “My mind isn’t plagued by beef.”
The rap star said he is enjoying being a father to Adonis, his 2-year-old son with Sophie Brussaux, and enjoying his recently completed Toronto mansion. “My life is about peace,” Drake insisted. "My life is about drinking espressos and wine.”
The 33-year-old said he has no interest in ending his feud with Pusha-T. “He’s just made an entire career off of it,” Drake said. “Some people like his music, I personally don’t ’cause I don’t believe any of it. And I like to listen to guys I believe.”
Nor does Drake seem concerned about patching things up with Kanye West. “There’s something there that bothers [West] deeply and I can’t fix it for him,” he explained. "I could never, ever, ever ever turn my back on the things that I’ve said about him in a positive light, and I still feel all those same things… Kanye West would be my favourite artist all around. And that’s just facts. I have no problem saying that.
“Things have changed. I’m not just some kid that’s a fan anymore. Now we have personal situations, and like I said, a lot of his issues with me, I can’t fix them for him.”
As for his decision to collaborate with Chris Brown, who was sentenced to five years of probation for assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, Drake admitted he was initially hesitant.
“I didn’t want her to ever feel disrespected by me linking up with [Brown], but I also know how many nights she knows that me and him have both been consumed by this issue,” he said. “She’s a good person with a good heart that would rather see us put that issue to bed than continue childish s**t that could end up in a serious situation.”
Drake said Rihanna is “no longer a part of” his life of Brown’s.
“I have the most utmost love and respect for her,” he said. “I think of her as family more than anything.”
