Drake announced he would begin working on a playlist of original music called More Life in October of last year. Since then, fans have had little to go on as information about the project has been thin on the ground.
The wait, however, is nearly over. At a concert in Leeds Feb. 9, the Toronto rap star told those in attendance at his concert that he was “one and a half to two weeks away” from finishing the playlist.
“I'm excited because I'm about like a week and a half, two weeks away from finishing this project I'm working on called More Life,” he told the crowd. “All that means is I get to drop a new project and at some point I get to come back and be with my people in Leeds... I go by the name of Drake and I can't wait to see you again.”
During his first Amsterdam dates, Drake previewed a couple of tracks from More Life for the audience. The “Boy Meets World” tour wraps up in Amsterdam on Mar. 27 and 28. “I know we got three more shows in Amsterdam, but the best part of that is, if you coming back to any more shows, More Life is gonna be out and we can do some whole new s--t,” he said at the concert.
The 30-year-old has essentially been working non-stop – either releasing music or touring – since 2013. It was announced Wednesday (Feb. 8) that he had beaten out David Bowie, Coldplay and Adele to be crowned the IFPI Global Recording Artist of 2016.
Drake still has 27 dates remaining on the European leg of his tour, when he can finally take a well-deserved break.
