Drake was nominated Thursday for 17 Billboard Music Awards, including Top Artist, Rap Song, and Rap Artist.
Drake has collected 15 BBMAs since 2011. Last year, he had nine nominations but won only one.
The rap star’s fellow Toronto native, The Weeknd, earned nominations for Top R&B Artist, R&B Male Artist and R&B Album this year.
The other Canadian nominees are Shania Twain for Top Country Tour; Justin Bieber, who is featured with Chance The Rapper and Quavo on the DJ Khaled track “No Brainer,” for Top R&B Song; and Dzeko's collaboration with Tiësto ft. Preme & Post Malone, “Jackie Chan," for Top Dance/Electronic Song.
(The Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa hit "One Kiss," which is up for Top Dance/Electronic Song, was co-written by Canada's Jessie Reyez.)
Leading all nominees, though, is Cardi B, who has a whopping 21 – one short of matching a record set by Drake and The Chainsmokers in 2017.
Other top nominees this year include Post Malone (tied with Drake with 17) and Travis Scott and Panic! At The Disco.
The 2019 Billboard Music Awards, hosted by Kelly Clarkson at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, will air live on May 1.
