The wait is over for Drake fans.
The Toronto superstar’s highly anticipated playlist More Life debuted Saturday night.
“It’s not an album but it is a body of work I’m creating, just to bridge the gap between my major releases, to keep people excited,” Drake has said of the project.
The 22 tracks feature a long list of special guests, including Lil Wayne (on “Blem”), Kanye West (“Glow”), 2 Chainz (“Sacrifices”) and Young Thug (“Sacrifices” and “Ice Melts”).
Drake raps about rumoured love interest Jennifer Lopez on “Get It Together” — ““I drunk text J. Lo / Old number so it bounce back” — and sings the hook from her hit “If You Had My Love” on the track “Teenage Fever.”
You’ll also recognize samples of R Kelly’s “Clipped Wings,” Lionel Richie’s “All Night Long,” Earth, Wind and Fire’s “Devotion” and, yes, Sonic the Hedgehog.
Drake showcases more UK grime with Giggs (“No Long Talk,” “KMT”) and Skepta (“Skepta Interlude”).
The More Life cover shows a photo of Drake's dad Dennis Graham and the playlist features Drake’s mother Sandi Graham, who appears in a voice mail message on the track “Can’t Have Everything.”
She tells her rap star son: ”You know, hon, I'm a bit concerned about this negative tone that I'm hearing in your voice these days. And I can appreciate where your uncertainty stems from, and you have reason to question your anxieties and how disillusioned you feel as well, feeling skeptical about who you believe you can trust.
"But that attitude will just hold you back in this life.”
Moms always know best, Drake.
