Drake and The Weeknd sure have been having a good year.
Spotify announced Friday that Drake set a new record, reaching one billion plays of "One Dance." This follows news that the Toronto rapper is the most-streamed artist of 2016 and has the most-streamed album (Views).
Let's not forget he had also reached all top three year-end charts on Apple Music with his last album, Views.
"One Dance" is truly the biggest track the rapper has had so far. It stayed for 10 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
After collecting four Ameican Music Awards, he also won several Billboard Music Awards, as well as MTV Europe Music Awards.
For this coming new year? The rapper is already nominated for eight Grammys, and Views is already certified quadruple platinum in the U.S.
The other record for the week is for our favourite Canadian R&B singer, The Weeknd.
Also topping the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks straight, the musician just passed the 500 million plays of the album Starboy on Spotify, making it one of the fastest growing albums on the streaming service, and the first artist to pass 40 million listeners.
Congratulations to both!
