Albums by Drake, Carly Rae Jepsen and The Weeknd are among 40 on the 2017 Polaris Music Prize Long List, which was unveiled Tuesday in Ottawa.
Drake’s More Life, Jepsen’s E.MO.TION Side B, and The Weeknd’s Starboy are named along with Leonard Cohen’s final album You Want It Darker, Feist’s new release Pleasure, and the Arkells collection Morning Report.
Both Gord Downie’s Secret Path and his band The Tragically Hip’s Man Machine Poem are on the list, too.

A jury of 201 music journalists, broadcasters and music bloggers came up with the list after considering 188 titles.
The 10-album Short List will be revealed on July 13 and the winning album will be named at a gala in Toronto on Sept. 18.
The Polaris Music Prize, which recognizes the Canadian album of the year, comes with a $50,000 cash award. The nine runners-up each receive $3,000.
Previous winners include Arcade Fire, Feist, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Kaytranada.
