Canada dominates the Top Male Artist category at this year’s Billboard Music Awards.
Justin Bieber, Drake, Shawn Mendes and The Weeknd were announced Monday morning as nominees along with Future.
Bieber, Mendes, Drake and The Weeknd are also up for Top Artist against Adele, Beyoncé, The Chainsmokers, Ariana Grande, Rihanna and Twenty One Pilots.
In the Top Billboard 200 Album category, Drake’s Views and The Weeknd’s Starboy are challenged by Beyoncé’s Lemonade, Rihanna’s Anti, and Twenty One Pilots’ Blurryface.
Drake also has a nom for Top Hot 100 Song, where his “One Dance” is competing with “Closer” by The Chainsmokers feat. Halsey, “Don’t Let Me Down” by The Chainsmokers feat. Daya, “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” by Justin Timberlake, and “Heathens” by Twenty One Pilots.
In fact, Drake is tied with The Chainsmokers for the most nominations this year — 22 in all! Fellow Toronto native The Weeknd isn’t far behind with 13.
Alessia Cara managed to nab a nom for Top New Artist. She’s u against Desiigner, Lil Uzi Vert, Lukas Graham and Zayn. Toronto rapper PARTYNEXTDOOR got a nod in the Top R&B Collaboration category for "Come And See Me" featuring Drake.
