Drake has tossed Marcella Zoia, the young woman dubbed “Chair Girl,” out of the video for his new track “War.”
“Certain people we don’t condone,” the Toronto rap superstar wrote in an Instagram Story.
A new version of the video was posted with Zoia edited out.
The move came after Drake was slammed for giving Zoia a spotlight after she pleaded guilty to mischief causing danger to life. She is due to be sentenced on Jan. 14.
The 20-year-old became infamous as “Chair Girl” after video appeared showing her throwing a chair off the 45th floor balcony of a Toronto condo in February.
On Twitter, one person fumed: “drake putting the chair girl in his music video and giving her the attention and validation she wanted is yet another reason why drake is TRASH." Another tweeted: “You know she could [have] killed people and is now famous because of it right? F**k you.”
Drake responded to the furor on Tuesday by stating: “I don’t choose extras for my videos by the way.”
Zoia also weighed in on her social media. “People are starving out here," she wrote, "and ya’ll concerned about me being in the background of a video for less than a second.”
