Dream Theater will tour the U.S. this year to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its 1992 breakthrough album Images and Words.
The band already has a European tour booked for the anniversary. Guitarist John Petrucci recently confirmed that U.S. dates are forthcoming, according to Metalsucks.net.
"We're gonna take the summer off," Petrucci said, "We'll reconvene in September and we're gonna be playing in Asia. And we're gonna bring the same tour to North America, where, as soon as we announced [the European tour], all our U.S. fans were like, 'You've gotta come here.’
“So we will do that.”
No word on whether there will be any Canadian dates.
Petrucci added the tour will probably conclude around the holidays, after which the band will begin working on a new album.
Dream Theater's second album, Images and Words, became a hit on the strength of the single "Pull Me Under.”
While the band enjoyed only niche radio play in the ensuing years, they have grown a massive cult following and have gone on to influence an entire generation of rock artists.
