While every artist from Katy Perry to Justin Bieber to the estate of Leonard Cohen has sold the rights to their music catalogue these past couple of years, Dua Lipa is bucking the trend by buying hers.
TAP Music Publishing has announced that Lipa has purchased the rights to her publishing catalogue, just one year after she left TAP Management.
“We wish Dua all the best for the future,” the company said in a statement. “This is an exciting time for our publishing company - we are expanding our services and teams globally and continue to add talented writers and artists to our already stellar roster,” added TAP Music's co-president Anna Neville.
No official terms were announced for the sale, however, it does come just as Dua Lipa is teasing a new era. On November 9, she will release her long-awaited return single, "Houdini," which may or may not involve Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, who was rumoured to be working with the singer.
Next year, Lipa will also add to her acting résumé when she appears in Matthew Vaughn's new spy thriller-comedy, Argylle.
