Duran Duran is set to give an out-of-this-world performance Tuesday night to mark the 50th anniversary of the launch of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon.
The band will perform live in the Rocket Garden at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida with an orchestra, choir – and 300 illuminated drones.
The set list for the 90-minute show includes Duran Duran tracks like “New Moon On Monday,” “Astronaut” and “Planet Earth” as well as a cover of The Police single “Walking On The Moon.”
Keyboardist Nick Rhodes told NME: “This concert is clearly something that’ll only happen once in our lifetime, so we wanted to make it special.”
It was at the Kennedy Space Center where Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins blasted off on July 16, 1969. On July 21, Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to step onto the surface of the moon.
Tickets for the Duran Duran concert range from $99 to $300 U.S. with some proceeds going to the Aldrin Family Foundation.
