After Ed Sheeran's eagerly-awaited ÷ (Divide) album hits retailers at midnight (Mar. 3), the British singer-songwriter revealed that another hotly-anticipated record may potentially drop at the end of this year.
Ahead of his album release, Sheeran spoke to the BBC and casually revealed that his best friend, pop juggernaut Taylor Swift, will "probably" release her 1989 followup around the holidays. The revelation comes after Sheeran explained why 2017 will be a "high point" for his career, since Beyonce, Bruno Mars, and The Weeknd are not in his album release cycle to eclipse his spotlight.
"Taylor isn’t going to be releasing until probably the end of this year – Christmas is the smartest time to release because that’s when everyone buys records," Sheeran told the BBC. "So I’ve got a full year of just all Ed, all the time."
Sheeran's ÷ album, the follow-up to 2014's x (Multiply), is powered by his chart-conquering singles "Shape of You" and "Castle on the Hill." He will bring his new music to the Forum in Inglewood, California for the iHeartRadio Music Awards this Sunday (Mar. 5). The star-studded performers lineup also features Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Shawn Mendes, The Chainsmokers with Coldplay's Chris Martin, and more.
