It's a good time to be Ed Sheeran as the Brit celebrates a monumental milestone on the Billboard Hot 100 with his two recent singles: "Shape Of You" and “Castle on the Hill."
On Tuesday, Billboard announced that the singer/songwriter had made two major debuts on the weekly chart, becoming the first artist to ever splash into the Top 10 tier with two cuts.
While "Castle on the Hill" landed at the No. 6 position, "Shape of You" takes the cake as the No. 1 song in the U.S.
As if it couldn't get any better, it also marks the singer's very first chart-topper on the Hot 100.
Sheeran took to Instagram to celebrate the milestone with a photo of him and one mega-sized bottle of champagne.
"It feels amazing to debut at No. 1 in the U.S. especially after being away for so long," he said in a statement.
"Topping the Hot 100 for the first time AND to have 'Castle on the Hill' also debut in the top 10…I'm speechless. I really wanted to come back with those two songs to show the different sides of my music and what people can expect on ÷. The response to both songs has been absolutely incredible. I can’t wait to share the rest of the album."
Sheeran is set to drop his new album, Divide, which features both cuts, on March 3.
