Ed Sheeran will show up on the new season of Game of Thrones, it was revealed Sunday.
Producer David Benioff broke the news during a panel talk at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas with fellow producer D.B. Weiss and Game of Thrones stars Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner.
"For years, we tried to get Ed Sheeran on the show to surprise Maisie,” he said, referring to the fact that Williams is a big Sheeran fan. “And this year we finally did it.”
Later, Turner joked: “I’m still waiting for Bieber.”
Weiss responded: “You’re waiting on Biebs? Season 9.” (The series will ends with Season 8.)
Fans will have to wait to see Sheeran’s guest spot. HBO confirmed to Variety that the singer “has a role” but said there would “no more details.”
Let’s hope there are no swords involved.
Season 7 of Game of Thrones premieres July 16 on HBO Canada.
