Ed Sheeran says he's got new songs ready to go, but he doesn't expect to release them any time soon.
After releasing two albums last year, - (Subtract) in May and Autumn Variations in September - the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter is in no rush to release his eighth studio album.
Appearing at the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation Gala at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles, CA on May 2, Sheeran answered a question asking if he had new music.
“I'm working on them and they're new songs,” Sheeran told People with a laugh. “But nothing's going to come out this year. I'm enjoying being on tour. I released two records on tour last year and it's quite a lot being on tour and releasing records. So, I've made the new music and I'm just going to sit on it for a bit.”
Sheeran added that the songs have already been given the thumbs up by his two daughters, Lyra Antarctica, 3, and Jupiter, 2. Apparently they're big fans of dad's music.
"Mostly my new songs because I don't really play my old songs in the house,” Sheeran said. “I feel it'd be quite weird to just put on my discography, so they mostly know the new songs that I'm working on because I play them quite a lot.”
While it isn't "new" music, earlier this week Sheeran announced he will be reissuing his second album, x (Multiply), on June 21 for its tenth anniversary.
