Excerpts from Ed Sheeran's brand-new British GQ cover story have surfaced and the 25-year-old singer has a few thoughts about the pop landscape.
“There are a lot of singer-songwriters around now. I’m not the first but there are more than before,” he said. “I’m very happy for everyone to be in the same race as me, even if they copy every single thing I’ve done.”
It's that kind of confidence that makes Sheeran believe his upcoming LP, Divide, will top the charts. “In a 100m sprint to get a No. 1 album I just know I’m going to win,” he continued. “I don’t care who’s doing what. I just know I’m going to win. I’m going to make sure I come first.”

Billboard recently announced that the singer/songwriter had made two major debuts on the weekly chart, becoming the first artist to ever splash into the top 10 tier with two cuts. While "Castle on the Hill" landed at the No. 6 position, “Shape of You” took the cake as the No. 1 song in the country. As if it couldn't get any better, it also marked the Brit singer's very first chart-topper on the Hot 100. He must be doing something right.
