Ed Sheeran has ended his year-long hiatus from social media to share some exciting news with his fans.
On New Year’s Day, the singer posted a short video clip in which he holds up a handwritten sign that reads: “New music coming Friday!!”
He followed on Monday with a cryptic 10-second video graphic and “6th January 5am GMT | midnight ET x”
Sheeran hasn’t been on social media since December 2015, when he announced: “I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I’ve missed.”
The singer, who turns 26 next month, has also largely stayed out of the spotlight, except for an incident in November when he was reportedly slashed in the face by Princess Beatrice.
This week’s new music will be the first from Sheeran since his 2014 album x. His 2011 debut was titled +.
