Ed Sheeran’s plan to build a chapel on his English estate have been put on hold because of northern crested newts.
The Suffolk Wildlife Trust said ponds on the singer’s property might be breeding grounds for the protected species, so Sheeran must hire experts to search for the amphibians.

Sheeran submitted a proposal to build a small chapel with a 48-foot tower on his estate as, according to the application, “a place of retreat for contemplation and prayer, for religious observance, celebration of key life and family milestones, marriages, christenings and so forth.”
In Britain, it is illegal to disturb the northern crested newts – also known as great crested newts – or their habitats.
