Sir Elton John and songwriting partner Bernie Taupin have commemorated their highly successful and iconic musical career of 50 years together with the release of their most ultimate greatest hits collection Diamonds on Friday.
The album contains 34 remastered tracks over two discs, featuring all of the hits.
"We are at 50 years, and our relationship is healthier than it’s ever been," John said in a press release. "There have been times in our relationship when we’ve written with other people, but it still didn’t stop the love. I love Bernie more than I’ve ever done and I think he probably feels the same way about me, because we’ve both led separate lives; we both write in separate rooms. We have an amazing respect and love for each other that’s only grown.”
Taupin, in a release, added: "We still get a kick out of what we do; it’s what we do – when we come together and write something, it still has that magical quality to it – it doesn’t get any better than that. That feeling hasn’t aged."
In addition to digital and streaming releases of the album, fans can also purchase a standard two-disc copy, a vinyl edition, or a three-disc limited edition box set which also includes post “personal favourites curated by Elton himself,” postcards and a 72-page hard-cover book containing the personal stories behind each song.
