Elvis Presley's blue suede shoes have sold for a reported £120,000 ($208,000 CAD).
The iconic footwear made famous by his 1956 cover of the Carl Perkins song "Blue Suede Shoes" were up for auction via Henry Alridge & Son, which expected the item to fetch between £100,000 - £120,000
The King of Rock and Roll is said to have worn the shoes both off and on the stage, wearing them during his performance on The Steve Allen Show on July 1, 1956 when he performed “I Want You, I Need You, I Love You” and "Hound Dog."
Each of the size 10.5 shoes is stamped with "Nunn-Bush." They were authenticated by Jimmy Velvet, Presley’s close friend of 22 years and the world's leading Elvis authority.
Presley entrusted his friend & entourage member Alan Fortas with the shoes in 1958, the night before he left to join the army.
