A former touring musician for Christian pop act Owl City has pleaded guilty to lewdness with a child.
Daniel Jorgensen admitted he exposed himself to a girl, who was under 13, on an Atlantic City beach in August 2013.
On Thursday, a New Jersey judge sentenced him to serve two years’ probation in his home state of Minnesota.
The 32-year-old played guitar, bass and vibraphone in live performances by Owl City (aka Adam Young), who had the hit "Fireflies" in 2009 and collaborated with Canada's Carly Rae Jepsen in 2012 for "Good Time."
Jorgensen was fired four months after the incident.
In 2015, Young said in a statement that he knew nothing about the incident. “What Daniel is accused of makes me sick,” he said. “I was unspeakably horrified to learn of the allegations.
“As a person of faith who believes in compassion and forgiveness, I wanted to believe they were not true.”
Jorgensen was initially accused of having “criminal sexual contact” with the underage girl and trying to lure her to his hotel room and the band’s tour bus to have sex. If convicted of the charges, he faced up to 10 years in prison.
Jorgensen grew up in Austria, where the age of consent is 14.
He currently composes music for commercials and films. He has released three albums under the name Carinthia, including last year’s Fields. According to his Instagram profile, Jorgensen was married in 2015.
