Panic! At The Disco singer Brendon Urie says fans have driven him out of his home.
The 29-year-old announced on Twitter that he has “moved on from what was once a safe place.”
In a message to fans, Urie said he lived in his “dream home” for the last three years.
“I had a studio built in part of the house, wrote an album there, jumped off the roof into the pool countless times,” he said.
Urie paid a reported $1.17 million USD for the 1,935-square-foot three-bedroom home in Encino, California in 2014.
The address was public knowledge, though, and he received a constant stream of letters and gifts.
“This never bothered me,” Urie wrote. “But as time progressed … this soon changed into visits and constant harassment from fans.
“It got so bad that I didn’t feel safe in my own home.”
In his note to fans, Urie included the address for a place “nowhere near me that I’ll have checked periodically” for letters and gifts.
Panic! At The Disco's latest album, Death of a Bachelor, was nominated for a Grammy Award this year.
Urie, who has been married to Sarah Orzechowski since 2013, is currently appearing in ads for the Human Rights Campaign's "Equality Rocks" campaign in support of LGBT rights. Urie has spoken candidly about his sexuality over the years, describing himself as "fluid."
In 2014 he told Advocate magazine: "There's no shame in it, and if I can help shed some light on that fact, then great."
A year earlier, he told PrideSource that he has "experimented in other realms of homosexuality and bisexuality."
Urie said: "I find myself being attracted to dudes all the time. I'm like, 'Wow, that's a beautiful man.' There's no shame in it; that's how I feel. To stifle that would probably bring on stress and probably make somebody homophobic."
