Hollywood producer Neal H. Moritz is looking to make a biopic on boyband *NSYNC.
The executive, who has producing credits for the Fast & Furious and Sonic the Hedgehog franchises, is looking to document the group's phenomenal rise after their highly publicized court battle with former manager Lou Pearlman. (The story itself has already been told through two documentaries: Lance Bass's own The Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story and last year's Dirty Pop: The Boy Band Scam.)
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a script is in the works and Moritz has already reached out to all five members of *NSYNC - Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Justin Timberlake - for their permission and participation in the making of the film.
However, the deal has been described as "complicated" by an insider, largely due to the joint ownership of the group's name and each member being represented by different management.
“Fans want more NSYNC, we know that,” the insider adds, “so if this project was tabled for further discussions, it still leaves a door open.”
While the group briefly came together in 2023 to record new track "Better Place" for Timberlake's animated film, Trolls Band Together, there has been no confirmation that a full reunion will ever happen.
Last year, all five members did appear on stage to perform "Bye Bye Bye" at Timberlake's L.A. show, but months later even Fatone admitted in an interview with People said he is waiting to hear like everyone else. "I will say the gears are in the right direction as far as the interest from everybody," he explained.
