The Foo Fighters on Monday joined a long list of bands forced to pull the plug on tour dates due to the COVID-19 crisis.
“The lights and stage are in the trucks, ready to go,” frontman Dave Grohl said in a message on social media. “The SECOND we are given the go ahead, we’ll come tear s**t up like we always do. Promise.”
The band has rescheduled three U.S. shows on the Van Tour from April to December and will postpone two others. The only Canadian date on the tour – May 20 in Hamilton, Ont. – is so far not affected. Foo Fighters are also due to perform at Montreal's Osheaga festival on July 31.
Grohl reminded fans that he performed concerts after a 2015 fall in Sweden in which he broke his leg. “Playing a gig with a sock full of broken bones is one thing, but playing a show when YOUR health and safety is in jeopardy is another.”
He said the Foo Fighters’ new album is done and “it’s f**kin’ killer.” He ended his message to fans with: “Now go wash your hands.”
