Rebecca Black, best known for her 2011 viral hit “Friday,” revealed that she identifies as part of the LGBTQ community.
“I made a conscious decision to not, like, ‘come out,’” the 22-year-old YouTube star said on the Dating Straight podcast. “People started asking and I stopped not responding. I'm still in the process, it feels like.”
Black said she recently ended a "pretty long" relationship with a woman.
Asked how she self-identifies, Black replied: "Every day is different, it's something that over the past few years I've obviously been having a lot of conversations with myself. To me, the word 'queer' feels really nice.
“I have dated a lot of different types of people, and like I just don't really know what the future holds. And some days, I feel a little more on the ‘gay’ side than others.”
Black released the EP RE / BL in 2017 and has put out more than a dozen singles but has not been able to match the success of “Friday." The video for the song has been viewed nearly 142 million times.
