Actress Gal Gadot is being slammed for a cringe-worthy video she shared Thursday in which she and an assortment of celebrities sing John Lennon’s classic “Imagine.”
The clip, which was posted as millions of people self-isolate to prevent the spread of COVID-19, was captioned by the Wonder Woman star with: “We are in this together, we will get through it together. Let’s imagine together. Sing with us.”
Gadot starts singing the song and then cuts to clips of stars like Sia, Jimmy Fallon, Natalie Portman, Will Ferrell and Sarah Silverman singing lines.
Of course, most people either enjoyed the video or didn't care enough about it to share their opinions – but many people made their views known.

Variety TV critic Caroline Darya Framke tweeted her reaction to the video. “Imagine if celebrities came together to donate money/resources to people actually need it. I wonder if they can :)”

I wonder if they can :)
Chris Lochery of Prospect called this version of Lennon's song "unbearably mawkish." He wrote: "If Gal was expecting to be showered in love heart emojis, her timeline jammed with approving quote-tweets from doctors and politicians, then it didn’t go exactly to plan. The effort was roundly—and rightly—dunked on."
Flare writer Katherine Singh described the video as “super corny” and “painfully out of touch.”
She opined: “People are actually dying and losing their jobs and struggling to get medical attention. What they really need are more resources, access to testing and ways to help with their mental health during social distancing … But seeing rich people sing about having no possessions is not inspiring.”
Chris Murphy at Vulture acknowledged Gadot's video was "obviously a nice gesture" but added "watching a bunch of über-rich celebrities muddle through a song in no discernible key is not exactly the quarantuning content that we currently crave at this juncture."
Gadot’s efforts at entertaining the shut-in masses drew strong reactions and inspired some clever tweets and memes. Here are a few:

Honestly never thought that the biggest event of social distancing week 1 would be the entire internet turning against Gal Gadot.

I'm glad Gal Gadot brought the world together by giving everyone a video we can all collectively dunk on.

Everyone is making fun of the Gal Gadot video because they're rich celebrities. But I'd like to point out that a hot person had a bad idea, thought it was good, then got her friends to participate (because she's hot). The video is a symptom of Hot Privilege. That's the real story
