Earlier this year, Rush confirmed that drummer Neil Peart is no longer able to tour because of health issues, but if you think Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson would ever hit the road without him behind the kit, think again.
In Time Stand Still, the new documentary about the Canadian band, Lee explains: “We always said that if the three of us aren’t on board, we don’t do a thing.
“So one guy doesn’t want to do that thing anymore that I love to do. That hurts. But there’s nothing I can do about it and that’s part of the agreement.”
Peart, who wants to spend more time with his daughter, also has tendonitis, which causes pain in his shoulders, arms, feet and elbows, all body parts necessary for drumming.
The good news is that the band hasn’t ruled out a one-off or new music.
You can find out more about what goes on behind the scenes with the trio in Time Stand Still. The film chronicles the band’s recent R40 tour, which celebrated their 40th anniversary. You can see it in select theatres one night only - on Thursday.
