Canadian country singer George Canyon is one of four stars who will play Teen Angel in the Toronto production of Grease the Musical.
The 47-year-old Nova Scotia native will perform “Beauty School Dropout” to Frenchy (Michelle Bouey) in the second act of the show for eight performances from June 12 to 17.
"Grease was the very first musical I was ever in," Canyon told iHeartRadio.ca. "I’m thinking it was in Grade 9. I played Johnny Casino and I was one of the Greasers with Danny so we sang ‘Grease Lightning’ and did all that stuff, all the dancing. It was probably pretty funny.
"So to come full circle and actually do Grease the Musical as Teen Angel... it just puts a smile on my face. I literally don’t have words."

Canyon said he's already prepping for the role. "I’m working diligently on it because that’s a big song. That’s like reading a book. With lyrics like that… I’ve been working on it for a couple of weeks and I'll keep working."
At the end of each show during his run, Canyon will return to the stage to perform a song. Then, someone in the audience will win an acoustic guitar signed by the singer and the rest of the cast.
Also stepping into the white suit during the musical's run are Dancing with the Stars alum Mark Ballas (June 7-10), Big Time Rush singer Logan Henderson (June 24-29), and actor Drake Bell of Drake & Josh (July 3-8).
Canyon, whose new album Southside of Heaven came out Friday, has earned eight Canadian Country Music Association Awards and a pair of Juno Awards. He has appeared on Trailer Park Boys, Heartland and in the direct-to-video movie Coming Home for Christmas.
