George Strait has broken the record for the largest attendance for a single ticketed concert in U.S. history.

The country music legend performed to a crowd of 110,905 fans on Saturday night (June 15) at Kyle Field at Texas A&M in College Station, TX.

Strait's performance took the crown from The Grateful Dead, who performed in front of 107,019 Deadheads at Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ on September 3, 1977. (Although the estimated crowd for that one still ranges betwee 125,000 and 175,000. There must have been quite a few freeloaders!)

According to ABC News, Strait's concert caused quite a stir in the town of College Station, with hotels selling out before tickets even went on sale.

The King of Country performed two new songs in his set, “MIA in MIA” and “The Little Things,” which will feature on his upcoming 31st studio album, Cowboys And Dreamers, which is due September 6.
