Kim Kardashian has always dreamed of becoming a Spice Girl, and Geri "Ginger" Halliwell says she would co-sign the reality TV star if she were to take her place in the Girl Power group.
“She deserves something really good,” Halliwell said to E! News. “She deserves something like Inner Strength Spice. I think she’s Smart Spice. She’s smart. It’s brilliant that you’re beautiful from the outside, but also she’s beautiful with a book in her back pocket. I love that. We can be all things. Good for her!”
Halliwell has long been the hold-out from a proper Spice Girls reunion. Earlier this month she was asked by Entertainment Tonight about getting the Girls back together for their 30th anniversary next year, but she was noncomittal.
Still, if there is a reunion Halliwell praises Kardashian for her shrewd business mind.
She’s amazing,” she added. “I think she’s a very, very good role model. She’s smart. She’s really been inspiring the way she’s turned that business around and also for women to celebrate your curves. I really like that about her.”
Kardashian, meanwhile, has shown interest in becoming Smart Spice or Inner Strength Spice (I'm sure she'd think of something a little zippier.) On an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, the middle Kardashian sister admitted to dressing up as Victoria "Posh" Beckham for a talent show. She has even confessed that she was invited to join the Spice Girls by Mel "Sporty" C herself in 2022.
“Sporty Spice wrote a book and signed it inside and she sent it to me saying that they’re going on tour and they need a Posh and would I be the Posh?” she recalled. “I mean, I’m sure she was joking. But like, when I was in high school, would I ever have thought that this was, like, a thing? I’m just, like, a girl from high school that loved the Spice Girls and now they’re asking me?”
If you Google "Spice Girls reunion" there are a number of stories claiming "offers have been made," "members have been discussing it," "announcements will be made" and "it's all confirmed" yet fans continue to hold out hope that something will be set in stone. Back in July, Beckham sang "Say You'll Be There" karoake at a party and teased there was "more to come" on social media, so we'll see.
Of course, we aren't that far removed from the Spice World – 2019 Tour, so maybe we just chill on the reunion talk for a bit?
