Gloria Estefan has reworked her 1989 hit “Get On Your Feet” into a fun lesson on protecting yourself and others during the COVID-19 crisis.
The 62-year-old debuted “Put On Your Mask” on Sunday via Instagram.
“There in your house is the answer / find it, I know it will pull you through,” she sings before the chorus. “Put on your mask / when you go out in public / Put on your mask / help save the world from COVID.”
Estefan created a video for the song with the help of friend Heather Beltran and sound engineer Juan Arreguin. She said Dr. Aileen Marty, an infectious diseases expert at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in Miami, asked her to come up with a way to promote homemade masks that don’t deprive real ones from health care workers.

“I wanted to contribute something that would put a bit of humour into a very serious situation because that’s what has helped me get through the toughest moments in my life,” the singer wrote. “I hope I make you smile while imparting an important message!”
At the end of the video, Estefan said: "I pray every day for everybody that is going through this, whose family have been infected, people who have lost loved ones, everyone that is out there risking their lives for all of us.”
