Canadian musician Gordon Lightfoot will be the final scheduled act at Toronto’s famed concert venue Massey Hall before it undergoes a two-year revitalization.
The 123-year-old venue on Victoria Street in downtown Toronto will be closing its doors next year for a major multi-phase renovation project that is scheduled to take until the fall of 2020.
Lightfoot will be taking the stage of the original Hall for the final time on June 29 and 30. The 79-year-old singer/songwriter has reportedly performed at the venue more than any other artist – over 166 times – according to CP24.
In a statement, Lightfoot referred to Massey Hall as “hallowed grounds that feel like home.”
Lightfoot is set to tour in the U.S. beginning February.
