The 2025 Grammy Awards will go ahead as scheduled on February 2 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, despite the city currently battling the wildfires that have taken 24 lives so far and left thousands homeless.
In a joint statement, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. and MusiCares CEO Tammy Hurt explained that music's biggest night will still take place, however, it will also double as a fundraiser.
"In close coordination with local authorities to ensure public safety and responsible use of area resources, the 67th Grammy Awards telecast on CBS on February 2 will proceed as planned," the statement reads.
“This year’s show will carry a renewed sense of purpose: raising additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours," it continues.
“In challenging times, music has the power to heal, comfort, and unite like nothing else," it adds. “The Grammys will not only honor the artistry and achievements of our music community but also serve as a platform to amplify the spirit of resilience that defines this great city of Los Angeles.”
Last week the Recording Academy and MusiCares launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort To Support Music Professionals impacted by the crisis, in which they pledged a combine $1 million in relief.

This past weekend, Beyoncé, who leads all artists this year with 11 nominations, announced a $2.5 million donation through her BeyGOOD Foundation to help families who lost their homes in the Altadena/Pasadena area. In addition, the BeyGOOD LA Fire Relief Fund will also go to churches and community centers to address the immediate needs of displaced residents.
