Music fans will soon be able to vacation at the world’s first guitar-shaped hotel.
The 638-room hotel, which stands 137 metres in the air, is a little more than a year away from completion and will be the centrepiece of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida – just outside Fort Lauderdale.
Hard Rock plans to open a similar guitar-shaped hotel in Barcelona, Spain in 2020 followed by one in Japan.
When the Florida one opens to guests in the fall of 2019, it will overlook a 10-acre lagoon dotted with cabanas and will be part of a complex with dozens of restaurants and bars, a 41,000-square-foot spa and a casino that will be expanded by 30 per cent.
The existing 3,500-seat concert venue – which is hosting shows by Rod Stewart and Britney Spears this month – will be expanded by 3,000 seats and will have its own broadcast facilities.
While most people are amped about the guitar hotel, the building is taking its licks.
"Every now and then, you see something so horrific that it has the potential to shatter the very fabric of the universe,” opined Connie Ogle of miami.com. “That guitar-shaped Seminole Hard Rock hotel is a blight on our land.”
