It's been a little over three years, but HAIM has returned with some new music and released their sophomore studio album Something To Tell You, the followup to their 2013 debut, Days Are Gone. "We've toured every year since we released our record. We love playing live. So it's been a mix of going on the road and recording this record," Danielle tells iHeartRadio of the last few years.
Alana describes the the writing/recording process as a "blast," and Danielle explains, "We spent a couple months writing the songs. We kept writing throughout the process, but we spent the first four to five months just writing and working on song arrangements. And then for the next year we were just recording them as a band."
Since early May, Este, Danielle, and Alana have given fans a glimpse into Something To Tell You by sharing several songs from 11-track LP, including its lead single "Want You Back," "Right Now," and their current single "Little of your Love."
And yes, HAIM does have Something To Tell You, hence the title of their album. What is it that they want to tell, though? Este says, "I think you gotta listen to it to figure that out."
Danielle, Alana, and Este all have different favourite songs from Something To Tell You. So, we asked them to tell us what they were, and they delivered – Este actually loved both of her sisters' choices, and gave us her favorite song to play live. Check it out below:
"I think my favorite song on the record is 'Ready For You.' It's a song about knowing exactly what you want and just going for it whole heartedly."
"I think my favorite song on Something to Tell You is a song called, 'Found it in Silence' because, for me at least, it really does feel like a self-healing song about [how] you can heal yourself if you know what you want. You don't need anybody else to make you feel good. You kinda just gotta march through it and at the end of the day, you only need yourself."
"I think my favorite song to play live on the new record is 'Little of Your Love.' It's really fun to play as a bass player because there's a really jazzy, funky bassline. I take the bass for a walk, if you will, and it's just fun all around for this guy."
