Halsey announced on Wednesday that she is donating 100,000 face masks to four medical facilities in California to help protect health care workers during the COVID-19 crisis.
The three-ply masks were sourced from China and will be distributed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Providence Saint Joseph, LAC+USC Medical Center and Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital.
“Every single day I am in awe of the medical workers on the frontlines,” Halsey wrote in an Instagram post. "Their determination, selflessness and empathy is the single greatest example of our capacity to love and survive as humans.”
The pop star noted she is self-isolating at her home “without the fear and obligation of essential work employment. Without a sick family member to care for. A child to feed. A financial crisis to navigate.”
Halsey urged her fans to do their part by respecting stay-at-home directives and said she will make “a sizeable donation” to a non-profit organization that supports vulnerable households in at-risk communities.
“If you are on the frontlines, my heart is with you,” she shared. “And I will be continuing the fight to help you get the support and resources you need.”
