Harry Styles gave a shoutout to his former One Direction mates while accepting Artist of the Year at the Brit Awards on Saturday.
“I want to thank my mum for signing me up for X Factor without telling me, so I literally wouldn’t be here without you,” he said. “I want to thank Niall, Liam, Louis and Zayn because I wouldn’t be here without you either.”
Styles, who opened the show, also picked up Brit Awards for Album of the Year (Harry’s House), Song of the Year (“As It Was”) and Best Pop/R&B.
“I have so many wonderful memories of the Brits so thank you for another one,” Styles said while accepting the latter. He described Harry’s House as “the most fun I’ve ever had making music.”

Styles had two previous Brits – Video of the Year in 2018 and Single of the Year in 2021 – and collected seven while part of One Direction. On Saturday, he won in every category in which he was nominated.
Wet Leg, which has opened shows for Styles on his Love On Tour, was named Best Group and Best New Artist. “That rock ’n' roll it just won’t go away,” said Rhian Teasdale. “It might hibernate from time to time and sink back into the swamp.”
Lizzo performed a medley of her hits on the show but it was Beyoncé who won International Artist and International Song of the Year (“Break My Soul”).
The Brit Awards also featured performances by artists like Sam Smith and Kim Petras, Stormzy, Wet Leg and Lewis Capaldi (who was introduced by host Mo Gilligan as “Sam Capaldi”).
Near the end of the show, Gilligan announced there were “some technical issues” that forced producers to air a 2022 performance by Adele.
Canada was repped at the Brits by Shania Twain, whose new album Queen of Me debuted at No. 1 in the UK. She presented Styles with Song of the Year.
