The video for Whitney Houston’s cover of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” has topped 1 billion views on YouTube.
The 1992 smash hit, produced by Canada’s David Foster, came from the soundtrack to The Bodyguard. It spent 14 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Houston’s version of “I Will Always Love You” is only the fourth song from the ‘90s to reach the billion-view milestone. It trails “November Rain” by Guns N’ Roses (1.45 billion), Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” (1.1 million) and “Zombies” by The Cranberries (1.05 billion).
According to YouTube, “I Will Always Love You” has averaged 350,000 daily views this year. Houston died in 2012.
