The Chainsmokers are all about collaborating with strong female singers, as evidenced by "Closer," the EDM duo's 2016 hit featuring pop darling Halsey.
Now it appears as though Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart have their sights set on a woman making a name for herself in a completely different genre of music: country.
In a since-deleted post from 2016, The Chainsmokers tweeted at rising country star Kelsea Ballerini that they needed to hang out sometime. "It's like you're READING MY MIND," she replied. "I'm in."
Nearly two years later, the producers retweeted her response and added "Kelsea you think they're ready?" She responded with a cryptic message: "I’ll tell you a story before it tells itself..." she wrote, including a slew of emojis.
The banter sure makes it seem like the stars have something in the works.
This collaboration wouldn't be the first time a country artist crossed over to EDM. Earlier this year Maren Morris contributed her country crooning skills to Zedd for their hit, "The Middle." And, Florida Georgia Line dropped "Meant to Be," a collaboration with Bebe Rexha.
