Jaden Smith will play a young Kanye West in the new half-hour TV series Omniverse.

The first season of the anthology series, which has been ordered by U.S. cable channel Showtime, will “examine the many doors of perception,” according to Variety.

Season 1 will “explore the Ego though an alternate reality Kanye West.”

West is an executive producer of the project along with music manager Scooter Braun and others.

Smith, the 20-year-old son of Will Smith, starred in the 2010 remake of The Karate Kid and the 2013 sci-fi flop After Earth. He released the rap album Syre in 2017 and, last month, debuted the digital EP Erys Is Coming.

The Omniverse pilot episode was penned by Lee Sung Jin (Silicon Valley), who told The Hollywood Reporter: “I’m honoured and thrilled to be collaborating with everyone involved to present an alternate world through the eyes of a young man somewhere in the multiverse who happens to also be a Kanye West.

Omniverse is not set in our world nor about our world’s Kanye West as we aim to add a new spin on alternate realities, consciousness, and push the limits of half hour narrative.”
