Singer-songwriter James Taylor has pulled the plug on his upcoming Canadian tour with Bonnie Raitt due to COVID-19.

“We were so looking forward to the tour,” Taylor said, in a statement. “It breaks my heart to call it off but that’s what we must do.

“All the medical information suggests that small and large gatherings may well put people at risk. That is the last thing we would ever want to do.”

Taylor, 72, and Raitt, 70, were scheduled to kick off the Canadian tour on April 14 in Victoria and hit up 10 more cities across the country before wrapping things up in St. John’s on May 5.

Fans are being encouraged to hold on to their tickets. “I hope we can reschedule for the not-so-distant future,” said Taylor, who added details about refunds will be available soon.
