TV stars Janel Parrish and Katie Findlay will be in Toronto this fall to appear in a new Canadian production of Grease: The Musical.
Parrish is best known as Mona Vanderwaal on the series Pretty Little Liars and Findlay is the Ontario-born actress who played Rebecca Sutter on How to Get Away with Murder. They’ll play Sandy and Rizzo respectively.
"I'm beyond excited to return to the stage,” Parrish said, in a release. “Sandy has been a dream role of mine since I was a child, and a role I never thought I would be asked to play.
“As an Asian American woman, I'm thrilled to be able to say I can play Sandy.”
Newcomer Dylan S. Wallach will be Danny in the show, which is being directed by Josh Prince (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical).
The popular musical features songs like “Hopelessly Devoted To You,” “You’re the One that I Want” and, of course, the title track. The show originally opened on Broadway in 1971 and was adapted for the big screen, with Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta, in 1978.
Grease: The Musical is set to begin previews on Nov. 1 at the Winter Garden Theatre. Tickets go on sale Sept. 5.
