Janelle Monáe's North American tour supporting her new album, Age of Pleasure, begins next week (August 30) and she has put a call out for Black women and non-binary photographers and videographers to help document the experience.
Partnering with Wondaland, Live Nation, Black Women Photographers, and Fem The Future, Monáe is seeking two individuals to shoot each date on the tour.
In a statement, Black Women Photographers explained that the hope is to “further the reach of Black women and non-binary photographers and videographers within the world of music.”
“This partnership will provide a widely engaging space for visual artists to be seen and heard within Wondaland, Black Women Photographers, and Fem The Future ecosystems," the statement continues. "Two members of Black Women Photographers in participating cities will be chosen and paid to photograph and videograph Janelle Monáe’s The Age of Pleasure North America Tour."
Those interested in shooting photo or video of Monáe's concerts can apply here. Applicants must be local to one of the participating cities, which includes Toronto's lone date on September 21 at Massey Hall.
