Jane's Addiction have cancelled the remaining dates of their tour, following an on stage fight between lead singer Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro on Friday night (September 13).
“The band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group," the band said in a statement. "As such, they will be cancelling the remainder of the tour.”
Halfway through their set at Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston, MA, fan-shot video showed Farrell attacking Navarro, getting in his face and taking swings at him while the band was performing their song "Ocean Size." Members of the band's crew, including bassist Eric Avery came over to drag Farrell away, before the band stopped playing and left the stage.
The next day (September 14), the band cancelled their Sunday night (September 15) show in Bridgeport, CT. Farrell's wife, Etty Lau Farrell, also shared her video of the incident, in which she detailed her account of what happened between the band.
Farrell explained that "Perry's frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band. Perry had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry cussing at him that the band was planning too loud and that they couldn't hear him, Perry lost it."
She also accused Avery of making matters worse when he "put Perry in a headlock and punched him in the stomach three times," after which he broke down and "cried and cried."
Jane's Addiction next scheduled concert was for Wednesday, September 18 at Budweiser Stage in Toronto, ON, where they were set to perform alongside Love & Rockets.
The band posted that refunds for the cancelled dates will be issued at the point of purchase.
