Jann Arden said Thursday a deal is in the works to export her eponymous TV series to America.
“It will happen,” the singer said during a ComedyPRO event at Montreal’s Just For Laughs festival.
Arden and co-creators Leah Gauthier and Jennica Harper didn’t reveal much about Season 2 of Jann except to say there will be eight episodes, up from six in Season 1, and that Arden is looking forward to doing more physical comedy. Mostly, they reflected on the journey to get the show on the air and shared anecdotes from the inaugural season.
Arden revealed that singer Michael Bublé, not Rick Mercer, was supposed to guest star on the fourth episode, “Major Party Foul.” Bublé, who shares a manager with Arden, wasn’t able to do it because of a scheduling conflict so Arden called on her friend Mercer. (She jokingly asked the audience at the session not to tell Mercer that he wasn’t their first choice.)

Elsewhere in the Q&A, Arden reflected on a corporate appearance for Purdy’s Chocolates more than a decade ago for which she was paid $15,000 in Purdy’s gift cards. It inspired a scene in the Jann pilot where she received a wheel of Parmesan as payment.
Arden also shared that she’s often mistaken for Jill Whelan, who played Captain Stubing’s daughter Vicki on The Love Boat.
Asked by a fan to sing part of her 1994 hit “Insensitive,” Arden walked over to him and performed directly into his phone’s camera. Returning to her seat, she joked: “That’ll be $900."
Jann airs on CTV and is co-produced by Bell Media, parent company of this website.
